Ayurvedic Diabetes Treatment

Diabetes is a group of metabolic disorders which is associated with high blood sugar levels. It is caused either due to inadequate secretion of insulin by pancreas or the inability of body cells to react to insulin. If not treated properly in the early stages, it could lead to serious health complications or diseases such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, foot ulcers, kidney disease, damage to the eyes and others. Prevention and treatment of diabetes include keeping a healthy diet, regular physical exercise and maintaining normal body weight.

Causes of diabetes vary greatly depending upon the genetic makeup, ethnicity, family history, health and environmental factors. Thus there is no single common or defined cause of diabetes. Diabetes is majorly classified into Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is caused when the immune system destroys the pancreatic cells that make insulin leaving inadequate quantity of insulin in the body. Some of the triggering factors of Type 1 diabetes are viral or bacterial infection and chemical toxins in the food. Type 2 diabetes is caused by obesity, ageing, unhealthy diet and a sedentary or physically inactive lifestyle.
