Constipation is a health disorder in which the excretion system of the body doesn’t work normally. In this condition, the patient finds it hard to defecate due to infrequent bowel movements, sometimes causing pain and discomfort. Since it is a very common gastric problem, people generally don’t take it seriously. But it should not be ignored as it could lead to several other major health issues. Some of the common causes of constipation are irregular and incorrect eating patterns, inadequate fluid intake and poor bowel evacuation habits. A sedentary lifestyle which comprises of sitting at a place for prolonged hours and having a low-fiber diet are also some common causes of constipation. All these factors lead to improper digestion of the food which doesn’t get excreted properly from the intestines and cause bowel disturbance. Refrain from consuming heavy, oily, spicy and fried foods that are difficult to digest. Also keep in mind not to eat in a disturbed atmosphere or in front of TV as these could cause infrequent bowel movements. In certain cases, psychological factors like stress, anxiety, fear, jealousy, and sorrow also create circumstances leading to bad toilet habits which causes constipation.

Every night soak two dry figs in a cup full of water. Eat these fully swelled figs by morning on empty stomach. Do not eat or drink anything for next 45 minutes. Similarly soak two dry figs in the morning to follow the same procedure in the evening. After having your breakfast and dinner, place a small black harad or haritaki in your mouth.
